The MUHC Foundation named a charitable partner for Presidents Cup’s return to The Royal Montreal Golf Club

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada – The Presidents Cup today named the MUHC Foundation a charitable beneficiary for the 2024 event, returning to the Royal Montreal Golf Club September 24-29.

To commemorate the partnership, the Presidents Cup committed a donation of $250,000 to the MUHC Foundation toward a transformative helipad project, which will bring medical helicopter travel to the MUHC.

“The MUHC Foundation does remarkable work raising millions for the McGill University Health Centre and the Presidents Cup is honoured to play a small part in its efforts with this charitable donation,” said Executive Director Ryan Hart. “We are thrilled to help fund the helipad project, a much-needed initiative that will ensure equal access to world-class healthcare for all Quebecers, including those who live in rural areas and require urgent medical assistance. In addition to that, we are honoured to have the MUHC’s services on site throughout tournament week to ensure the safety and support of our players, partners and fans at the 2024 Presidents Cup.”

The MUHC Foundation raises millions of dollars every year for the McGill University Health Centre, one of the top research and teaching hospitals in Canada. Its Dream Big Campaign is actively raising $200 million for various healthcare initiatives ranging from cancer research to cardiology and infectious disease research.

“The MUHC Foundation is honoured to partner with the Presidents Cup, and to be a part of this momentous occasion,” said Marie-Hélène Laramée, President and CEO of the MUHC Foundation. “As a Foundation, we are deeply tied to our community, and we know how exciting it is for Quebecers to be hosting this very special tournament. We fundraise for life-saving research and healthcare because we want our community healthy and thriving.”

"I am delighted that a dedicated healthcare team from the MUHC will be on site during the Presidents Cup golf tournament, ensuring the well-being of all participants and attendees while reinforcing our commitment to the health and safety of our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to The Presidents Cup for its significant support to our hospital through its generous donation to the MUHC Foundation. This contribution will help enhance timely access to complex and emergency care and services for patients in need," stated Dr. Lucie Opatrny, MUHC President and Executive Director.
