Our process

To respond to the MUHC’s most pressing needs, the MUHC Foundation raises funds and/or provides grants to selected projects related to research and adult care at the MUHC Glen site, the Lachine Hospital and the Montreal Neurological Hospital.

Applicants must be members of the MUHC or RI-MUHC community with an innovative project related to research, patient care, equipment, or infrastructure needs. All submissions must receive prior approval by MUHC or RI-MUHC leadership, as defined below.

Key information

Submission of your project is in no way a guarantee of funding. Prior to submission of your application, it must necessarily be approved by one of the following:

• MUHC President and Executive Director;
• RI-MUHC Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer;
• Chief of your department

Your requested grant amount must include all fees, non-recoverable taxes and overhead. The MUHC Foundation will not disburse funds above and beyond the requested amount.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Upcoming submission deadlines

• March 27, 2026

The MUHC Foundation will notify you of its decision 6 to 8 weeks after the submission deadline. Should you have any further questions regarding the application process, please contact us here.

Approval Steps

• The applications are reviewed 3 times a year by the Grants Committee of the Board of Directors
• The Grants Committee can make the following recommendations:
  • Approved for funding (with conditions)
  • Approved for fundraising (funding only available if donor(s) found)
  • Deferred, with a request for additional information
  • Refused

The recommendation from the Grants Committee is presented to the Board of Directors for final vote.
