Leading Quebec’s response to endometriosis

Endometriosis shouldn’t be shrouded in mystery. It affects one in ten women worldwide, yet it remains one of the most underdiagnosed conditions—leaving far too many women wondering what could possibly be the source of their pain. That’s why, we are supporting Quebec’s first multidisciplinary referral centre for complex endometriosis, the Endometriosis Centre for the Advancement of Research and Surgery (EndoCARES).

Why

Because women shouldn’t have to

suffer in silence.

Did you know it takes the average patient seven years to receive a diagnosis of endometriosis? That’s seven years of chronic pain and unexplained symptoms that can worsen over time, significantly impacting quality of life. From abnormal tissue growth outside the uterus and ovarian cysts to infertility and kidney damage, endometriosis is a serious, life-altering condition—and women deserve answers.

Under the leadership of co-directors Dr. Dong Bach Nguyen and Dr. Andrew Zakhari, EndoCARES is shortening the path to diagnosis and providing the specialized expertise patients have been waiting for.

How

Be an advocate for women’s health.

For far too long, women have had to advocate for themselves. Today, the MUHC Foundation is committed to standing with them—and advocating for lasting change by:

  1. Advancing compassionate, patient-centred care

Your support enables the EndoCARES team to focus on what matters most: listening to patients, responding to their lived experiences, and delivering personalized care that reflects their real needs.

  2. Supporting vital endometriosis research

Every dollar raised will fund cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research to help us get to the root of endometriosis, from understanding its distinct causes to managing symptoms and pain.

  3. Building a model of care that will change the standard

Together, we will do more than ensure that endometriosis is thoroughly understood. This work will help make world-class, comprehensive endometriosis care accessible across Quebec, while setting a new standard for care in Canada and beyond.
