Recognizing the MUHC’s outstanding nurses

The MUHC Foundation marked National Nursing Week, May 8–14, with a special treat for the MUHC’s nurses.

On May 10th, everyone’s day was a little brighter at the MUHC, not just thanks to the brilliant sunshine, but the smiles on the faces of the MUHC’s nurses. In honour of National Nursing Week, the MUHC Foundation provided free food, drinks and gifts to the MUHC’s talented, compassionate and dedicated nurses.

A Mr. Puffs food truck was on hand to provide free doughnuts and Atypique, a Quebec-based beverage company, donated five flavours of its non-alcoholic cocktails. The nurses also received reading glasses generously donated by O Way Coiffure-Spa and RBC was on hand to show gratitude and provide branded swag.

The atmosphere on the MUHC’s terrasse was one of excitement as a steady stream of nurses stopped by throughout the day. MUHC Foundation staff, led by Director of Community Relations Wafa Saad, were on hand to take fun photos and show gratitude for the amazing work of the MUHC’s nurses.

Nurses are critical members of the health care team, providing a wide range of care across the many departments of the hospital. Nursing isn’t only about giving medication or taking a blood sample—it’s about seeing patients as people and connecting with them as human beings.

“Working at the MUHC is rewarding because I have the best team. My colleagues challenge me, support me and refine my ability to meet my goal to provide the very best care to my patients. It’s an invigorating process,” says Tamara Faubert, a nurse in the MUHC’s Adult Emergency Department.

The MUHC Foundation is grateful to the MUHC’s nurses for their commitment to the health of our community. Thank you to Mr. Puffs, Atypique, O Way Coiffure-Spa and RBC for generously donating their time and the treats.

You can ensure the MUHC’s nurses have the resources they need to provide the very best care by donating to the MUHC Foundation. Give today at www.muhcfoundation.com
