About the MUHC Foundation

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Foundation raises funds to support excellence in patient care, research and teaching at the McGill University Health Centre, one of the best university hospitals in Canada. Our Dream Big Campaign to change the course of lives and medicine is raising millions of dollars to solve humanity’s deadliest puzzles: infectious diseases. End cancer as a life-threatening illness. Fix broken hearts through innovative cardiac care. Detect the silent killers—ovarian and endometrial cancers—early. Create the best skilled health care teams in Canada. And much more. We are rallying our entire community to solve the world’s most complex health care challenges.

The MUHC Foundation is a result of a partnership between the McGill University Health Centre Foundation and the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, beginning after the RVH moved to the state-of-the-art Glen site of the MUHC in 2015. On April 1, 2018, the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation officially changed its name to the McGill University Health Centre Foundation.

On April 1, 2021, the Montreal Chest Institute (MCI) Foundation was brought under the MUHC Foundation banner.

History of the RVH Foundation

The RVH Foundation was created in 1973 to support the work of the Royal Victoria Hospital, originally located on Avenue des Pins in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile. Over the course of its history, it helped advance patient care, research, and teaching specifically at the Royal Victoria Hospital of the MUHC by funding programs, equipment, research and teaching initiatives. A sustainable and continued source of funding by the Foundation enabled the RVH of the MUHC to remain of the forefront of exceptional patient care and improve the quality of life of its patients. In April of 2018, following three years of partnership with the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Foundation, the RVH Foundation officially changed its name to the MUHC Foundation.

History of the MCI Foundation

The MCI Foundation was founded in 1962 to raise funds to help patients living with complex and chronic respiratory conditions breathe easier and live longer. Over the course of its history, the MCI Foundation helped the Montreal Chest Institute’s team become world leaders in respiratory care, teaching and research. It also supported cutting-edge research to spark new ideas, develops new treatments and medications, and find cures. In April 2021, the MCI Foundation officially merged with the MUHC Foundation, creating the MCI Fund of the MUHC Foundation.
